Blind Rivets

RivetKing blind rivets are a permanent mechanical fastener comprised of a rivet body and a mandrel and used to fasten materials from one side of the application. Unlike many other types of rivets, the benefit of a blind rivet is that the “blind side” doesn’t require any setting tool access. As the rivet is inserted into the intended joint, through a hole with specific criteria, the mandrel is pulled by the jaws of a manual or powered tool in such a way that the mandrel inelastically deforms and radially expands outward to create a secondary head on blind side. As clamp force is generated to a predetermined limit, the mandrel breaks, separating into two parts. The gripped portion is then discarded. With a prepared hole, blind rivets offer significantly faster join speeds as compared with screws or other joining methods.
